FAQs - Freelance Copywriting and Editorial Services
Can a professional copywriter really help me convert prospects into customers?
You bet. Companies spend thousands of dollars designing their websites but neglect the copy. And they wonder why they aren't getting the traffic and conversion rate expected.
Whether website or brochure copy, the bottom line is words make the sale. The wrong copy guarantees you’ll drive customers away and can potentially tarnish the reputation of the business you worked so hard to build.
A professional copywriter knows how to reach your target market and how to deliver copy that will dramatically increase profits. Our job is to make life easier for you, save you time and money, and bring you more customers.

Why should I care about my copy?
Copy conveys who you are and what you do. It connects you with your clients. It brings you new customers and retains current ones. Copy makes (or breaks) the sale.
Many companies are unaware their content is driving customers away—both new and repeat business. If your current copy isn’t bringing you the profits you want, the good news is that a change in copy can increase sales 5, 10, 25% or more. A professional copywriter delivers copy that speaks to your target market and understands the most efficient way to reach them.
Top What sets you apart from other copywriters?
We believe in the power of personalized service. We like to take an active role in our clients’ marketing strategy and invest in the success of their business.
Top How do I know you can write about my business?
No one can know about every aspect of every industry. Research is a large part of a copywriter’s job—it’s essential in order to create dynamic copy that will increase your sales. We have a wide range of clients and have worked with businesses in a variety of industries, from bath products to computer software companies. Whatever your industry, we will make ourselves experts and deliver stellar copy.
Top I’m located in Seattle, and you’re in Charleston. Can we work together effectively?
Yes. While we are based in Charleston, South Carolina, we work with clients from all over the country and the Caribbean. Distance isn’t an issue.
Top What is the difference between proofreading and copyediting?
Proofreading consists of thoroughly checking the copy for mechanical errors, including consistency in capitalization, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and syntax. Copyediting is more extensive and includes rephrasing for clarity, reorganizing information, and eliminating wordiness.
If you are uncertain about your editing needs, please contact us for a consultation.
Top How does this work?
Step 1: We begin with a free initial consultation to discuss your needs and objectives, and together we will determine the best strategy to achieve your goals.
Step 2: We prepare for you a statement of work outlining what we discussed, and include an estimate for fees.
Step 3: When you decide you'd like to work with us, we email or fax you a Letter of Agreement, which confirms our business arrangement.
Step 4: You sign it and return it along with half the total project cost. We collect the background materials, and the project begins. The sooner we get the necessary information from you, the sooner we can begin your project.
Top How much will this cost me?
Copywriting costs are quoted on a per project basis, which range from a hundred to several thousand dollars. Often, projects are difficult to estimate, and an hourly rate is most appropriate. As a rule, a flat copywriting rate works best for our clients.
The best way to get an idea of cost is to contact us. Let us know what you have in mind, and we will quote you a price.
Top Is there an up-front cost?
Yes. We require 50% of the project cost upfront. The sooner we receive the money, the sooner we can begin work on your project. We cannot schedule you on our calendar or begin any work until the up-front project fee is paid. The remaining balance must be paid upon completion of the project—within 10 business days.
Top When I decide to hire you, what happens next?
The task of writing copy is essentially a collaborative process. It is a copywriter’s job to listen to your needs and provide you with result-oriented copy. Once you have signed the contract and returned it with the up-front payment, we collect the background materials needed. When the copy is written, we submit it to you for your review—on or before the deadline date. You review the material to see if changes are necessary.
Top How long will it take you to write my copy?
All copywriting projects vary in terms of length and requirements. Some projects take a week, while others may take four weeks. Whatever the deadline, we guarantee you will have the copy on your desk by the date requested—or sooner.
We cannot begin the project until we have all the information from you. Any delay on your part will delay the entire process.
Top What if I need my copy now?
When you are in a pinch and need a rush job, contact us to see if we can accommodate. Our calendar is often full and it may not be possible. If you are a regular client, we will try to do what we can to work with you.
Top What if I want you to revise the copy I hired you to write?
One revision is included in the project cost.
